I have a 1952 ford f1 with a 215 straight six. I just bought a aluminum offenhauser two one barrel intake. I am trying to find out how to Set the linkages up to the carburetors.
The guy you need to connect with is Ilya (51 panelman). He installed a dual carb on his 215 as pictured below. Then he decided it was too much of a pita and went back to a single Holley 1904 set up. Stu
To use that successfully, you need to get a different type of distributor, as the trucks came with what is known as a Load-A-Matic from the factory. That used a special carburetor that produced a vacuum advance signal that (supposedly) allowed Ford to get rid of a mechanical advance mechanism. With two carbs, the signal is all wrong, so there are various ways to get the stock distributor modified or replaced to get a proper advance curve.
Thanks to Stu for saving me the time posting the pictures. I had nothing but trouble getting both carbs dialed in. Hopefully Ross is correct about the distributor. I didn't go that far and just went back to the stock set up.
The Offenhauser 2x1 intake is available in reproduction. The linkage is included with the purchase. You may want to contact Offenhauser to see if they'll sell the linkage separately.
Ilya - thought I should wait for you to post, but didn't remember seeing you on the forum for a while so went ahead and posted pics myself. Grabbing Photobucket pics is easy. Stu
No. Just to be clear, you can "run" the stock distributor but it will not give much advance, will run poorly. You need one with mechanical advance and vacuum advance, see the link in Post #3. (Note that Bubba is moving his shop and taking a vacation until after the new year)
