recurved distributor

I have a pretty much stock 460 in my 86 f-350. All the smog stuff is gone. I do have the 0 degree timing gear and a edelbrock intake with the factory carb. My question is what is recurving the distributor for and should I do it? I have the dura spark 2 I think. any thoughts??

The mechanical advance (centrifugal) is often a beneficial mod for extra power. many people with stock Durasparks like to use the 10L weights. Here is a nice article with pics on how to do it:

I think I have a pretty good idea on how it works but what would be the best choice for my application. any ideas there.

If you really want a hot distributor built for your appplication, buy one from D.U.I., a site sponsor. Click on their link. They will make the HEI-based dizzy work perfectly for your engine, as in curve it to the proper specs. I'm sure if you make any changes down the road, their phone line will be available to get you the help you need to adjust it again. Wait a minute...

Is DUI no longer a sponsor or what? I don't see their link anymore!?
