Sell it and put the money towards an idi specific kit if you want.
While both motors have that 7.3l displacement that's about the only thing in common.
Nothing is a straight bolt-on and you'll pretty much have to custom fab everything.
Not to mention,
Have you driven a powerstroke truck yet?
Their turbos boost mid-high rpm's,
IDI's need low-mid range boost IMO.

It has been done and worked out pretty well. It was done by 91dirtydiesel if I remember right. He had built his own mechanical controller for it but ended up going to an electronic controller.

How does a 6.0 and a 7.3L have the same displacement? Secondly, the benefit of using a vgt turbo is that it will spool very early. The 6.0 turbo is a good turbo, but as i understand is tough to setup. Theres been a few 12v guys with 6.0 turbos and they seem to love em.

Yeah, I was half asleep when I responded lol obviously they DONT have the same displacement. (I was thinking 7.3-7.3 duh)
I'm not bagging on the vgt turbos, I think it'd be great if they could easily be adapted to an idi, all the strokes that I've ridden/driven in seem to have needed more rpm's compared to a boosted idi,
but clearly i am wrong and stand corrected (not the first time lol)
Throw that puppy on there real quick and do a "how-to" write up, I'll subscribe and depending on how quick, cheap and easy you do it plus your results, I may follow suite.

That's awsome. I'm glad it will work. And how much boost does a vgt produce? And I will make a tutorial for sure!

Do some reading, alot more reading, and you will understand how that question doesnt even make sense.

As with any turbo type or setup, the amount of boost will depend on the amount of exhaust. in short, more fuel = more boost. As for this particular turbo, im not sure, but id say its probably good to 40 or so.

I gotchya. I'm an idiot lol so my stock turbo maxes out at 7 psi so If I were to put bigger down pipes and a custom intake that would increase boost then right? Cause I have the 6.0 downpipes and a custom intake I made. And how would I get more fuel with the bigger turbo? Clearly I have some more research to do. Thanks everyone for the help!

The stock turbo will do 20psi easily. 3" down pipe and a good 90cc pump are all you need.

First thing you need is a pyrometer... or do you already have one?

I don't yet but I plan to get one. I just wanna get a few other gauges to redo my cluster. I know if you turn the ip up to high your exhaust temp get to hot. I was also kind of wondering if I could use both turbos and make a twin turbo? I just wasn't sure if that would be to much boost.

I had a link to an nra site to tell you which canditates were pro gun when they were exploiting the sandy hook shooting to ban certain rifles. If you read the rules we arent supposed to discuss politics here, so i changed it
I got a message from a moderator asking me to change it.
