5.8 swap
Looking into doing a motor swap on my 96 f150 down the road. It currently has a 5.0 I was looking into swapping a 5.8 in, I believe its a much better truck motor more torque, wider power band, etc. My truck has an e4od trans so if I can find a 5.8 that has a e4od trans I should be able to keep my PCM the same correct? Also since 96 has OBD-2 diagnostics system with the downstream o2 sensor I would have to find a post 96 5.8 correct? Other than that is this just a plug and play swap? Could I use sensors off both the 5.8 or the 5.0? what other aspects go along with this swap. thank you.

You need a '96 spec 5.8 for this swap because there are several OBD2 and 5.8 unique parts on it. You don't have to change the trans and you don't need to change any wiring.. the 5.8 will bolt in with a 28oz E4OD flexplate and plug into all the 5.0 wiring.
