The two outer most channels in the roof have some sort of sealant in the bottom of them app 1/8" thick, mine has several spots where the paint has cracked on the inside corner of the channel and is rusting.
I appears that there is a seam in this channel thus the flexible sealant. (Some don't seem to think anything is in the channel but I think they all have it.)
Anyway I need to remove the problem areas and was wondering if anyone here knew what to put back?
use sikaflex polyurethane sealant, it hardens but remains just flexible enough that it will not crack. it is the same sealant used to (properly) install glued in windshields. it is paintable flexible seals well etc. etc. etc. the only problem is its like $20 bucks a tube.
Any particular one, sikaflex makes a lot of products?
Sorry I do not have any around at this moment, we only see two of their products over here, the black one for sealing in windshields, and the grayish white one for concrete/porous materials.
the black on is the one I am referring to I think its number on the tube is 721? I will have to see if one of my friends has one around, the stuff cures in the tube once you cut it open so generally I through it away if there is any left as it hardens before I can use it on a second project.
