Hey guys, as most of you know I want to do a cummins swap eventually and my brake lines blew about a month ago so before I fix them I was wondering what it would take to swap over to hydroboost while I'm working on the braking system which would make less work in the future and provide greater braking now. From what I've read basically its a bolt on swap both using SD parts in an OBS and swapping within the SD generation. What parts would I need to completed this minus the hydroboost unit itself? I figured that I would need the following parts (which if anybody has numbers please post them up!)
Parts:
-Hydroboot Unit
-Master Cylinder
-6.0l? Power Steering Pump
-New PS/Hydroboost Lines (braided stainless available maybe?)
-Better P/S cooler?
I read that everything plugs right in as well so I am not concerned about wiring or anything just the physical parts I need and lines I need to run.
It's F-Superduty parts that you need not the 99+ Superduty ones. Basically a new master, reservoir on the PS pump for return, new hydraulic lines and a larger cooler wouldn't hurt.
Why would I be looking for the OBS parts instead of the 99+ ones? Thanks though that atleast confirms all my readings and assumptions.
I thought I remembered reading not to long ago about somebody doing this conversion and not being happy with the results, I will try to find that thread
Thanks man great help! i will post up pics and give updates as i do this, I am going to go through with it because i will need to do it when i do my cummins swap anyway.
