6.0 Fuel Pressure Problem

Alright this is really starting to **** me off and im getting tired of it. For the last 3 weeks ive been trying to root out a problem ive been having with fuel pressures reading dangerously low. Before i was getting Erratic Readings.. but thought i had it solved.

Started by replacing the pump due to i had already done the regulator. When i pulled the old pump it actually rattled internally.. so figure it was bad as well. Especially since the new one did not. Well that got me a normal reading until id romp on it. then itd drop to 35. (told most should drop is 5-7 points not 20...).

Even though i didnt believe it i replaced the regulator again even though i had done it when i bought the truck after hearing the horror stories about the stock springs. After replacing the spring for the second time i got pressures of 64psi. Which was great. highway would be down to about 60psi but would stay there. Romping on it - it never went lower than 58psi. Which i thought great finally fixed...

For the last 1300 miles it ran great. i go to get in my truck this morning.. its reading 40psi AGAIN!!!... any ideas?? im getting fed up dealing with this BS...

Try a different gauge and sender yet?
Fuel filter pluged?
Biofuel geling for being to cold?
Did you get all the orings installed when you did the regulator?

Have verified my electrical gauge with mechanical gauge.

Filters were just replaced when I did the pump.

I'm not running biofuel that I know of. Unless they're not marking the pumps. Was 60* when I started the truck...

I did get and used all the orings when I did the regulator.

My next suggestion would be to measure the old spring and compair its length to a new one.
Byond that I dont have any other ideas, ill ponder about it and if I think of something ill post it up.

Unfortunately the new spring was the same length as the blue spring. I took out. Original black one was shorter when I took that out 2yrs ago.. Not sure the sprin itself was the problem. When I changed the spring a week ago I found the little plastic sleeve had somehow got damaged. But it was replaced with the new kit..

That's my problem too.. I don't have anymore where to look other than replacing it with a mechanical regulator kit

Right now its at about half.. Before that it was full.. When I first noticed it after getting the gauge in I was at 1/4. Filled it full still wouldn't come up.. After replacing the pump and reg. It read steady 64 @ idle. Going down the road at highway speed 60 psi. Even took it on a 1300 mile trip. Read fine the whole time.. Went to go to work today 40 @ idle..

Have you checked for fuel leaks, maybe a line between filter and hfcm?

yup.. sure have... even pulled the tank thinking the pickup was being blocked... did find some trash in the tank but not enough to account for loss of pressure...

Did your fuel pressure regulator require the use of the black bushing in the blue spring kit? And if so did you install the oring between the black bushing and the fuel filter housing? Have you performed a bubble test to see if the fuel is being aerated by gases of combustion? To bubble test, remove the secondary fuel filter and cap and with the cap and filter removed crank the engine over as shown in this video and watch for bubbles in the filter housing,

yup did have to use the black bushing.. used the rubber oring both times.. and yes i did the bluespring twice to eliminate it.. when i pulled the original one out the plastic cab was damaged too... but pressures not holding properly still even with the new one... been thinking of getting a new filter assembly to upgrade to the newer version that doesnt use the plastic retainer in it.. other ways been thinking of doing a regulated return instead since they eliminate the factory regulator.

When you replaced the fuel pump did you replace just the pump or the entire HFCM?
