I am at a lost, and looking for some suggestions.the short is, I have a 2000 250 with 94000 miles, just had to replace 2 calipers 1 front and the other rear due to extensive rust, but after looking around under the truck everything looks really rusted even the where the bed bolts to the frame, drive shaft. never thought that I would be restoring a 2000 truck, all things considered my 65 olds project car has less rust, any thoughts
Welcome to the club. Ford did a crappy job on rust prevention and did some hair brain things which just help hold dirt, moisture and other crud which cause rust.
My dads 03' needs all new bed supports, some bubbling at the one wheel well, surface rust in the lower window channel corners, tailgate seam, along with several areas under the truck that need attention. My 04' has rusting on the bed supports, tailgate, below rear super cab door, on some lower door seams, and at the lower window channels. Mine is better off than my dads but I was under the truck more keeping after the rust and I have half the miles he does. The trucks are not garage queens but they see much more care than the average SD out there.
Driveshafts are rusted on both and it really does not mean much of anything if it id only thin surface rust.
Cheap metal.... and depends on where you live. Here in ohio not only do they salt the roads they also spray brine water on the roads. Which is really eating away at our cars and trucks. I wish they would plow only. If you cant drive , stay home.

I totally agree. It's ridiculous the amount of salt used here in IL.
To the OP: Your truck is 15 yrs old. If you have rust on the body, consider yourself lucky. My '05 had to be fixed after 5yrs. Basically, redid the entire bed.
Every fall, I have been using rust converter. I buy it by the gallon, power spray the Underside...a day later all the rust is converted to a tough coating.
I wish there was a drive thru chasis bath operation in the area that would spray my truck with used tranny fluid or used motor oil...I am curious how well that would work....I have plenty of used oil...but don't want DEP knocking on my door with tickets for improper oil disposal.
The sad part is I dont drive it, was talking about it a friend and jokingly said about being at the local parts place talking about our resto jobs and the other guys 69 camaro 65 gto, and me 2000 F250 94000 original miles numbers matching thanks ford
