I don't think it will come out, even with your method, without art least moving the tank a little.

The metal guard gets unbolted and set out of the way.

Parked flat, wheels chocked good, trans in neutral. (This may not be necessary though.)

Route ratchet straps across the top of the frame and under the fast tank. Loosen the tank straps letting the ratchet straps take the weight.

Carefully slide the tank over only as far as you need.

I also unbolted my driveshaft carrier bearing and tied the shaft at an angle out of the way. But I was using a tool that needed more room than your technique may need.

disappointment sets in

Well I'm stuck at the drivers side rear bushing. I was hoping if I searched enough in the forums I would find some way to do o it without having to mess with the fuel tank... and now I don't feel like keeping going. I also got the energy suspension bushings.

Agreed. Make sure it's empty. Easy to pull and move out of the way. I've even done it twice last month. Once to put the poly ones in, then 2 weeks later to pull them out cause they sucked and put oem rubber in.

lablue96, I've searched for the answer I wanted too. Sometimes it just isn't there.

The captivated chain method might get the bushing out without moving the tank.

But I'm %99 sure the metal rock guard has to come off.

Oh I hear you, sometimes you want the answer so bad you can taste it even if it's not there. When I got to this one, I knew you had to move the tank but it was getting late, I filled up both tanks Friday and the front is full. It was put on hold, tomorrow will be a fresh start

Yup! The ride and noise was horrible. Also going down the freeway the bouncing of the truck was more noticeable with the poly, we have cement roads here so that might be the difference.

You have to weigh the truck down like I do, LOL

The fuel tank front strap I loosen all the way until the bolt was almost off. The rear strap I took off and used the rachet strap and moved the rear of the tank towards the center of the truck until I could feel the fuel lines starting to get tight. Then I used the chain and jack method.
