Just found that my tank selector is not working, I had the forward tank selected, I don't like going below 1/4 tank so I selected the rear tank, no change (indicator did not change). Went to fill up, found that the forward tank was full and the rear had 1/4 tank. Where should I start to looking, switch, is there a fuse for selector valve, where is the selector valve located.
Selector valve is on the frame, drivers side just ahead of the front tank. I think that sounds like maybe the switch, but I'm no electrical genius. SOMETIMES if the selector is stuck you can tap it with a hammer and free it up. If it is the selector, they aren't cheap. There is a thread down the page showing that.
There is a fuse for the fuel tank valve in the in cab fuse panel, but I don't recall which one it is off the top of my head. If the gauge moves to read the other tank when switched, the fuse is good.
Finally got time to work on the fuel selector, switch is good, fuses are good, found out that this truck has a after market fuel tank the blocks the selector valve. see
Finally got around to replace the transfer valve, went with a stock replacement $350, had to drop tank to get to transfer valve. Found that was full of crap. had to clean it out, use Dawn dish washing liquid let it soak for week, cleaned up nicely. Took about hour to drop the tank (empty my be a gallon of fuel) with some floor jacks but took about 5 hours to but back in after it was clean, could not get filler hose to line up. Also had to replace the filter pick that go in the tank.
