As I take it, when you turn the AC on, it works ok, but the engine overheats????? If so, look to a problem with the fan clutch or maybe its fluid has leaked out. The fan blades should move, but with some resistance, it should Not free wheel/spin with no resistance.
What kind of shape is the coolant & cooling system in??? When last was the thermostat & radiator cap, serp belt & maybe the belt tensioner & water pump replaced, the cooling system flushed & the condenser & radiator fins inspected for obstruction, or cleaned???? Have you checked the belt tensioner range marks, to see if belt tension is in spec???? Some thoughts for consideration, let us know what you find.
