I bought Peak Blue DEF at my local Wally World for about $12 per container and used most of two containers ($24 total). My DEF mileage is likely on the high side of average though as I drive gently (mostly hwy) and haven't yet towed.
It cost me $12.68 to fill with DEF at the pump a few weeks ago, tank was near 230 MTE at the time. At the pump cuts the cost in half.
Higher use in the summer, less in the winter. I make it somewhere between 6k-7k but has been low as 5k.
If i do the math, it comes out to .01¢/mile or less, depending.
The 2.5 gal jug of def is usually about $13.00 which is how I got my cost per mile. It's twice as expensive at the dealership, is almost 1/2 that price at the def pumps (no jug).
Before moving, I would just top off when I passed a bulk DEF place. Usually that meant a couple of gallons in the truck and refilling the two Ford jugs I have.
Now I'll have to buy DEF jugs... Probably do it when I see 1/2 full message on the display. 2011 I burned 1 gal. per 800 miles. Not so sure on the 2015 yet, I only have 1200 miles on it, but I was able to dump my last Ford refilled jug into it completely.
