I have a budget of about 9k for a new truck. I love my Red Baron but it's time I got something else for a driver. I may still keep it and do the cummins swap next year but for now I'm parking it. I found a 2000 F350 extended cab dually. It's a 4x4 with a 6 speed which is exactly what I want. It has 280k but the clutch and all 8 injectors were replaced at 265k. It has brand new tires on the front, new leaf springs, and he says it has no mechanical problems. I haven't seen it in person but I'll be going on the 6 hour trek to look at it next week. He's selling because he got a job in the oil patch and they gave him a fleet truck with free fuel so he doesn't need it anymore. So what do I need to look for specific to these? It will be my driver and car hauler otherwise I'd just get a gasser half ton. I know hpw to look for things in a vehicle and run it through its paces like look for blowby, smoke, wrong color or metal flakes in the fluids, grinding gears, vibrations, leaks, knocking, sputtering, squealing, clutch, etc but what are common problems specific to these? Any recalls? I've owned a few stick shifts but they were 4 and 5 speeds. Any differences in how to drive it besides the obvious?
