I have a 97 seat in my 87 I think it's called a 40/20/40 bench seat, it's three seats with storage in the center fold down, I need to replace the springs. and body know where I can find them?

You have 2 choices.

Junk yard for used or Upholstery shop for new.

Just a FYI. I would bet the farm the springs are fine. It is the foam that goes soft

I'm betting on springs, I was bouncing across sprinkler tracks and I felt one break, then the other the next day.

Yup, I still doubt it!!

The seat frame tends to wear as well. The the spring will rip thru it.

There is also steel "cords" that go across the bottom of the seat. They are know to brake too. And also the rod that the cords and springs attach to. They also brake.

Trust me, I have had more than my fair share of seats apart and repaired them

From just last weekend alone. I swear, you guys must think I just pull my answers out of thin air

under normal conditions I would believe you and you might be right any ways, but I felt two things break in there.
I've never been to PA. but I doubt there are many center pivots out there. when you fly or look at the circular field on maps those are pivots or sprinklers. the sprinklers have a pair of tire that hold them up every 120 to 160 feet. over the year they cut trenches into the ground that very from a couple inches deep in sandy ground to a couple feet deep in other types of soil. and they are 10 to 18 inches wide.
My road through the field is only wide enough for a pick-up, so I have to hit them head on. if you try to crawl through them you drop the front tires in them and your stuck, so you have to hit them at least 10 mph. I have 5 pivots that I take care of 38 tracks that I have to bonce across most the summer. I've broken my radiator support twice before I reinforced it. A set of junkyard front leaf springs last me 2 years. I'm thinking of converting to coil springs to save some abuse on the truck.

Thanks I was hoping for an internet supplier our local upholstery shop close after the owner died.

We have them here too. Common is sang conditions that do not retain moister well.

But if you ever drove on PA roads, you would have the exact same feeling but at 65mph

you just have to search the internet. i had found a place that sell all kinds of seat springs, car and home. seats, couches and sears. dont have the site anymore but they have every type and tension you need, ofcourse youll need to know the tension. might be better to find a used seat thats in bad shape to get it form.

All I've found so far is springs for older stuff, as for a used one it took me a year to find the set in the truck, I did get luck and I found a spare set so I'm not out of a seat I just want to fix it because what's ever wrong in there will happen again. I would love to find a brown set to match the interior, but All I've come across it gray seats with all the plastic pieces stripped off.

I'd like to find a seat of brown captains chairs that they used in the 80s those are like recliners, The I could take the seats out of the 93 and put them in the 87.

I've spent some time in Minnesota where the wet and cold make terrible pot holes in the spring. and there not as bad as tracks are, they only buck one wheel at a time and not both.

Well you were right the two of the springs ripped through, I took my passenger side spare apart and I am going to use the foam, springs, and support mesh out of it. I was hopping to use the passenger side base, but there is one bracket that is different.

Weld a piece of 3/16 rod across the seat frame where the springs mount. (hint)If you weld it back a little further, you will tighten the springs

Old thread... i know but,
I just took my 93's bench seat apart because the seat base foam on driver's side was sinking into the wire springs and I was planning on placing some burlap or something similar between the base foam and the springs to keep it from continuing.
After getting it apart, I found that I have one broken spring and I am not sure what should be done to fix it.
One spring probably won't cause a problem but since I went to the effort to open it up I would like to get it 100% if I can.

Any advice on spring repair for this gen. of the Ford truck?
I've search w/ google and only find the zig zag type of springs from the older trucks.

Go to junk yard and steal on from a seat, actually steal several just to have
