Ok. Today I got a dtc p0263 cylinder 1 contribution/balance code on initial startup and shuddering for a few moments. Got on throttle to clear gas and see if it would clear up. Ran we'll for a few minutes and decided to head to football game. Shuddered at 1400rpm and gave her a little more throttle and seemed to be curred rest of drive to game. What would be causing short lived experience? Ran we'll when warmed up from dive today. Started out will 40 degree weather. FICM at 48.5, eot 198, ect, 192... 30 mile drive. Flooded cylinder?
I would think under fueled before flooded. Stiction? Failing injector? Is this the first time it occured? Stock injectors? Mileage on injectors if stock?

Yes it is. Started shuddering around 1400rpm, went away for awhile and then died on me. Would not turn over. Waited 5 min. Tried again and white smoke and died again. Just bought it and am lucky that a neighbor is a diesel mechanic to help fix. Have been around the truck for 20g miles and know known issues before I bought it. Bad luck I guess. Hoping for a easy fix, but looking forward to a learning lesson for my myself and 15 year old to learn diesel education.

It would be worthwhile to try and get an injector contribution test before you replace it, or you could just change them out and see if the problem travels to another cylinder to know for sure
How is your coolant level? Does the truck still have the EGR cooler?
The EGR cooler will give you white smoke if it cracked internally.
If the truck put out a cloud of white smoke and died, it is possible it is hydro locked. Bad things will happen if you try to start it in that condition.

Coolant level is low, refilled it in min level. Knew it, waiting to delete Egr. White smoke and killed it immediately. Ready for whatever now, I guess. . Feeling like somebody knew it was going to happen and now I am having to deal with it.
Update, blown head gasket and hydro locked. Time to bulletproof. Please give me some suggestions on products, please...arp headbolts, check. Delete Egr vs. replace. All comments and suggestions welcomed. 158000 miles on her. Bought for 15000. 2006 lariat 4x4 f350 crew long box.
