Mysterious Brake Failure

Did ball joints and universals over the weekend, front brakes were in good shape so re-installed. Pulled my dump trailer no issues, abt. 40 miles, on the way back empty I was coming down a long mountain road about 30 miles an hour, hit the brakes started slowing down then I heard a slight pop sound, almost like when a brake line goes, then the pedal goes to the floor, I pushed hard and there was a little pedal left and it helped slow, but not enough before I went thru the stop sign. We looked under the truck, no leaks, then got back in and I had pedal, drove the truck, pedal came back but now feels like the rotors or rotor is warped as my front end is shimmying when hitting the brakes, if it was the rear I don't think I would feel that shimmy. Any ideas what I should look for ?

First thing that comes to mind is the master cylinder, but some air was probably trapped somewhere.

I wonder if the rotor didn't get fully seated over the hub when you reinstalled it, I would recheck the torque on the lug nuts.

Always go back to the last work done. I would remove the wheels and double check the calipers and attaching hardware as well. Does the truck pull to one direction when you hit the brakes?

I just limped it home from the job, now it's got a lot of noise coming from the drivers side wheel, clunking, when you go in reverse the brake pedal pulsates and it almost feels like the brake wants to lock up, then it goes to the floor, if you look at the wheel going down the road it runs true until you hit the brakes, then it pulsates worse than before, weird, will pull the wheel tomorrow and post findings.

Might be a broken wheel bearing or hub.

The hub, bearing assembly are brand new, as I was driving down the road I kept thinking of that damn snap ring, there is no nut on an 05 I went crazy finding the right snap ring pliers to remove and install the new snap ring, and double checked both sides to be sure they were seated, but what else would do all this, at least it has reared it's ugly head and I know what wheel is causing issues.

This is a first for me, broken rotor, the 2 discs separated from the webbing that holds them together. The only thing I remember abt. that wheel was the mounting stud for the caliper that slides as the brakes wear, one of them was frozen, I really needed the truck and that was how it was when I took it apart, don't see how that could do that. Also can't believe the whole braking system failed from that one rotor ?
