It's in their "Order Guide" and on my truck.
I was fixin' to say - what is so tough about lifting the tailgates?
My 2015 has got to have some sort of assistance inthe tailgate as my wife has no troubles at all and I can lft it with one finger... At first I thought I had a plastic tailgate!

-edit
Oh - something I didn't think of was I did not order that goofy step bar and stripper pole - but that can't be that super heavy can it??

I'm seriously wondering if I didn't get this lift assist with my truck. I've also had a slew of shoulder surgeries, to include a total replacement, so I may just be too damn weak now ROR.

Hi Randy..........
The tailgate step does add a bunch of steel..........Think about a 300 lb guy jumping on it.........

It's not just the big guys who might need to lift the tailgate. As far as the step... probably not something I would have ordered, but it came on the Platinum. With my aging knees, I like it. I like the stripper pole too as goofy as it might look.

I like the step too. It's too bad they couldn't recess the stripper pole into the tailgate to make it flat.

Oh yes........I didn't mean to say it is only for the big guys....just stating how strong (and heavy) it has to be.
I love it !! Makes it so much easier to get in and out of the truck bed.

No offense taken there, although I am >200.. I was responding to Big-Foot in that wives and kids might have to lift it too, which is where the assist would help some.

I guess then that the tailgate with the stripper pole and step has to be substantially heavier than without. I had opened one at the dealer but didn't notice anything "different" about the weight of it. It was a 2014 and might have had some additional form of assist that I did not notice. Seriously though - mine is as light as I said. It feels like the whole tailgate were a lightweight piece of plastic.. I would estimate not more than 10-15# of lifting weight..

I test drove the 2015 F-150's the other day. One of the Lariat models had the easy up and down tailgate.

Very nice. Push button release, electric lock, easy down AND up, step and hidden stripper pole that made for a flat tailgate.

If this is what is coming on the new SD's - all I can say is 'bout time !

My 2011 F-350 tailgate (with step) was very heavy.

What the new SD's have...I don't know. I have one on order..... Hoping for end of November - 1st week of December delivery.....King Ranch with the step.........I'll report once I get it home.......

Is it here yet

It comes standard on the 2015 and it feels like it's aluminum when lifting it - very light.
But it still weighs around 50 pounds. I have to remove it to "slide" the camper in and it's still heavy as the older trucks.
Plus, whatever kind of plastic (polyethylene ?) Ford used to cover the bumper is slippery. The plastic makes removing the tailgate slippery and hazardous but I haven't dropped it yet.

That's nice and all but you still have to lift it manually to close it. The lift gate on the Expeditions can be automatic open/close, why not a tailgate?

Nope, mine is the Gen 1 tailgate. 1) I don't have the remote (that's excessive). 2) Pull the handle and it will drop like you shot it, and 3) my pole is round "like it should be". Plus, I can stand behind my truck and do curls with the tailgate. And most importantly, if I ever get a stripper in the box at a tailgate party, she would feel right at home.
Those are the advantages of the Gen 1 tailgate.
