I need help. my 85 4x4 with the c6 is pushing fluid out of either the pump seal or torque converter seal. I have got my trans out and see nothing wrong with the seals. is there something that could build up pressure and pushing the fluid out or is it just leaking out of a seal.
If you overfill the tranny it will do that. If the tranny overheats it will do that also. I would go ahead and replace the seals if you are already there though.
I just went through this with a 97 F350, and an E40D overdrive. There was a factory auxiliary transmission cooler in front of the radiator, that started leaking. I figured something that small wouldn't matter if I bypassed it, the cooler in the radiator was still present.
WRONG!
The first long trip I took with it, fluid started pouring out in the area of the front seal/converter. I ended up losing the transmission, because the fluid ran low trying to get it home. My wallet is now about $2400.00 lighter, because of that missing cooler. Several people in the 92-97 section told me the same thing, that small cooler is vital.
