i recently had my C5 transmission rebuilt but i had to use a new stock converter. i would like to had one with more stall but i could locate one. so dose anyone here know where i can get one. the truck runs great but the take off isn't there.
Does your torque convertor have lock-up? I am assuming it's 26 spline? If you look here they have different diameter torque convertors, some with lockup some without. The smaller diameter will have a higher stall speed.

What size engine do you have? I assume you have the F-100 truck.
My Ford service manual shows the C5 was used in the F-100 with 3.8L or 4.2L engines. Neither very desirable for performance mods. Maybe that's why your having a hard time finding a "performance" TQ Converter.
the factory stall is (for 3.8L) between 1759 and 1961 rpm.
for the 4.2L it is between 1869 and 2077 rpm.
The service manual groups the C5 and C6 torque converter testing and repair together. That got me wondering if they were interchangeable.
I'm not sure if they are different (probably since the parts numbers are different).
The C5 Converter is p/n E2DZ-7902-B (notes "FX and GB). Says F-100 all engines.
EDIT: That link Dave provided is very useful. So the C5 is 26 spline and the C6 is 31 spline. That satisfies my curiosity.
The C-5 and the C-6 are different You just need to find a truck or car that had a C5 the lighter vehicle and lower horsepower used higher stall converters, thats why back in the late 80's everyone was in the bone yards looking for vega's or the monza, because they used the turbo 350 but had a higher stall converter, just to get them moving, put one of those behind a built up 350 and they stall at 3800 rpm, better than B&M and other performance one's at the time, I know I did it for my Nova
the truck is an F150 but the vin comes up ranger. the engine is a 351w now it had a 302 in it. i'm not sure if it's a lock up or not but i'll ask the builder who rebuilt it what it is. thanks for the web site i'm gonna check it out now
