I've been combing over a 1995 E350 cargo I acquired rather hastily and have a few questions. I've never owned or worked on a Ford before.
Anyhow, I've discovered a few unplugged bundles here and there.
Here is the first one. Any idea what it is for? It appears to have been unplugged for some time. I considered just plugging it back in but worried about why it was unplugged to begin with and didn't want to risk blowing a fuse.
Thanks in advance. I do have the factor service manual, which I am going through, but it isn't particularly useful for identifying plugs so far.
Does your factory manual set include the EVTM for your year and model? If so that's one of the absolute best publications for identifying plugs and everything else electrical too.
If those connectors are re-connected and a fuse blows that might make determining their circuits easier. If you can trace where the lower one shown terminates it could be revealing too. Given their location as shown in the photo strongly suggests something to do with lighting; park, turn, headlights or even a DRL module installed but disconnected for reasons unknown.
Get an EVTM---best idea for troubleshooting electrical gremlins like this.
Every 1988-up Econoline that I've ever owned (dozens) has a couple of wiring plugs that are just there (driver side inner fender area). One is even fastened to the inner fender apron. No attempt by the factory to prevent dirt/moisture intrusion either. They're just "there".
I saw your post this morning, and I check a '94 E350 that I'm parting out, that connector is the same one I have, fastened to the radiator support, next to the starter relay.
As Ebby posted, it's just an OEM thing, one wire harness fits all.
Could be for the cruse control, fog lights, radio for the radiator?
If the van runs, you should be just fine with out it plugged into anything.
