Hey guys just picked up a 2008 crew cab FX4 loving it. I have had 2 Excursions 1 with 7.3 and one with 6.0. My 6.4 seems to eat through the fuel compared to the others. Is this normal can it be improved. Thanks

Because of the emissions the 6.4 will not do as good. It is a killer of a towing platform though.

Download the bible in the tech forum and read it. It helps to bring the motor into prospective.

Try slower starts and easing off the fuel when the light turn red.

I avoided as much city driving as possible with mine.

I could get 13 city and close to 17 on the hwy unloaded though. My lifetime average was 11.5 with all the towing and hauling I did with mine.

Follow a severe duty schedule.

yeah these trucks are not fans of great GAS mileage at all....but they will work all day without a hiccup....now if you wanted to go the route a lot of has which is deleting the dpf...adding a programmer and intake....but even then your going to see minimal gains.... "DEPENDING ON WHO YOU TALK TO" at almost $2500 in all of that I gained almost 3 mpg depending on how I drive... $2500 or 3mpg??? I'll let you decide ...lol ALL THAT BEING SAID... I LOVE the extra HP!

Deleted mine and I am also running 37" tires. When I bought it the dash was constantly reading between 11.5-14.5 mpg. Now, running a Spartan 310 tune it reads between 17.5-18.5, on long trips its 20+. Of course hand calculated( actual) numbers are around 10% less.

Its cool but Im ready to drop the thing down to like 8 inches and 37s. 10 inches on 44s is just way to much. The ride is horrible. H&S performance is the company name. Im running their minimaxx tuner. in my opinion its one of, if not the BEST tuner you could run on a 6.4

These trucks deleted properly and tuned right might as well be rocket ships. Im turning over 150,000mi with no problems yet..

That H&S aint cheap but if you got the cash, look into it. Thing will really wake up the truck!

I'm getting the best fuel economy out of mine that I've ever seen in my trucks.
Last long trip was hand calculated at 23.4!!!!!!!!!
Not every trip has averaged as high, but she's been consistently over 20 on the highway.
No lift though, wire pulled off turbo actuator, spartan 210 or 250 towing tune to keep it safe and not so smokey.
stock air, aftermarket exhaust, the tuner obviously, but otherwise stock.
