I have a 2000 E250 that is still running like a champ at 320K miles. The problem is the body is going. I have a neighbor selling a 1995 E350 that is in better shape body / frame wise for only $500.00... I was wondering how compatible these 2 years / models would be. I don't want to waste the cash if they are not compatible. Looking at them, they "look" like i could take a door off one and put it on the other.. Any thoughts?
Most exterior body parts should be direct bolt-on swaps between '92 up until the very end of life for the E-Series. There were style changes which might look a bit odd when later parts are swapped onto older bodies but they should all still fit.
Fenders, hoods, grills and headlight assemblies did change with the newer front ends but all that still fits on the previous year bodies.
Dash boards are very different, the '97 and later having vacuum operated air flow control.
Depending where the rust is forming the $500 van might be a good investment. For the most part even to a metal shredder it would bring about $400 delivered to them.
This past summer I scrapped my long-time beater car, 1984 Pontiac Parisenne for $466, about 3500# as I recall. Most vans weigh in about 5300# so that should bring even more---
