1998 5.4 engine locks up

1998 5.4 engine locks up
I have a 1998 Scab 4x4 with a 5.4 automatic. Had some rear ring and pinion issues which i have repaired. the truck sat for almost a year afterwards before i started getting it road worthy. Battery was toast and the last thing i did. Tires, brakes, wheel cylinders, tranny lines, gas tank, ...
New battery and bang, boom, clank. Engine can be turned by hand but will lock up going in either direction. Serp belt is off, starter is off(chewed up some flywheel teeth when it locked), rear wheels turn, drive shaft turns, front drive shaft turns.
Cant hear anything obvious while turning the engine by hand. Going to pull the plugs next but dont think thers is any hydrostatic lock.
any thoughts? Dropping the oil pan will be next but not looking forward to that.
