I have a 1996 f150 eddie bauer edition 2wd short bed with a 300I and a 5 spd trans. My problem is when I come to a dead stop that it becomes quite hard to put back into gear, also when putting in reverse it usually shifts hard and grinds a little. Now this problem doesnt happen all the time but it is reaccuring. So I was wondering if this has something to do with my sycronisers in the tranny or if the problem could be somewhere else. Shifts like a dream when the truck is in motion, only happens at a stand still.
All help will be appreciated
It sounds like you could be having clutch troubles. usually when trying to go into first or reverse is when you need the clutch the most Check out you hydraulic system and make sure that there are no leaks and it is operating properly. If it is a clutch, you should upgrade to an 11" clutch set and not look back!
I have the exact same truck, mine did the exact same thing in october, I took it to ford and they found that there was no clutch fluid in there, it disspeared. So they refilled it and it was fine. I was really worried that I had torn up my clutch but come to find I happialy didn't. Ford said that after I got the truck back to watch it carefully, if it did it again, then there is a problem. Thank goodness it didn't. -Joe
