proper way to remove cab?

My new AC/cruise cab came from New Mexico, that's why the carpet is still dry and the floors still have original paint. It even has the Lariat bench (under the seat cover) seat with out a rip or tear.
Now what is the safest most efficient way to remove my original cab and install the new cab?

*I have a 1200lbs hoist in the garage ceiling.
* Front fenders will be removed, drive line stays in
* bed already re built, stays on

Strap the roof and lift? what about rain gutter deflection?
somehow grab it from the floor?
Strap from right rear to right front and up, or right lower front to left lower front?
Thanks

Most people run a 4x4 across the top, just under the door openings, and lift it that way. It won't damage anything doing it this way. If you want a little extra peace of mind, wrap some padding around the 4x4 beam, and/or make a dual beam setup with short pieces nailed in between the 2 long beams to hold them apart.

The roof structure is stouter than you might think.

I agree with RW. The cab is surprisingly light, probably weighing ~300 lbs as I've been able to handle it with one helper. But that's w/o the doors.

However, if you want to be REALLY cautious you could run a couple of 4x4's across under it and lift from there. But that gives you two problems. First, the 4x4's are in the way when you try to set it on the frame. Second, it is unstable and can tip. So I would go with something(s) through the door opening and lift there. The dual-beam setup would be best as it gives much more balance front-to-rear.

a 2x6 laid flat thru the cab opening(no doors) and then straps coming from the 2x6 to the hoist.

Just make sure you do not pull in. You WILL bend the rain gutters.

Or, if you have 4 guys just pick it up and off

I have never had an issue lifting with the doors on and just a 4x4 through the window openings with a strap on top, but I have never had them hanging for any prolonged amount of time, I've always had them in the air for less than 5 minutes.

When I removed the last cab, I left the doors on and ran a 2x6 through the door window openings. I had 2 eye bolts on each end of the 2x6 and connected them to a tow strap.

Rolled it under my HF Gantry Crane and hoisted away. I removed and installed the cab by myself.

Not nearly has hard as you think.

The HF crane has let me do 99% of my restoration work by myself. Which is a good thing, since most of my work gets down between 11 pm and 7 am thanks to my work schedule..
