I've been collecting parts to fix up the excursion I bought about a month ago and now that the manifolds are properly fixed its getting time to dive into all my projects. Here's a list I have so far. Let me know if there's anything else I should add while I'm in the process of doing these. Thanks in advance.
F-350 springs and blocks from a low mileage donor
F-350 rear sway bar
1.5" front shackles
Bilstein 5100's all around including steering stabilizer
New headlights
Back up camera
New tires (coming soon)
You can also keep your Ex rear blocks and add 2-3 original Ex leaves to the f350 pack for the same effect. Remember to remove the overload springs from the f350 pack. Which engine?
V10 engine. The springs I bought are heavy duty and have 11 leafs in them. I will be removing 4 and seeing how it sits. I'm aiming for 4" of lift to clear 35's. turns out my wife will be driving it more than I will so I can't go too high.
Shouldn't have to shim it, just 45* cut the corners on the lower plastic valance. Doesn't look cheap or hacked, it's hardly noticeable but yields some needed clearance. If you really wanted to you could make a curved template from cardboard, transfer it to both sides of the bumper, and cut along the curve instead.
Wouldn't hurt to throw on some stainless steel flex lines for the brakes while you're doing the springs since you'll be in the vicinity anyway. The OEM soft lines tend to break down over time and allow fluid in between the plies which can result in dragging brakes or tugging randomly. I'm waiting for my Russell lines to arrive in a few days since mine is exhibiting those exact symptoms. There was just a thread on here about them.
