Unless it is some sort of weird law that they only enforce on US registered trucks and let us canucks slide when operating on your side of the border.
Correct. brand new trucks leaving the factory are built this was and are 100% LEGAL

They weren't back when I was driving them. That has been a few more years than I really wanna admit to though.
I always though it was odd that a "1 ton" could run allow and steel together on the same hub, with a single set of lugnut, and a bigger truck wasn't allowed to do so even though they had inner & outer lugnuts.

Is it correct what I have heard, that aluminum wheels on dump trucks and semi's are for weight purposes? If you save 500lbs in weight with the aluminum rims, that means you can haul 500lbs more gravel per trip. Don't know if that is the real reason or not.

You're going to need some long lug studs to run dual aluminum wheels. BTW, my new E 450 SD had Alcoa wheels outside rear and on the front. Nothing between the duals to prevent corrosion and they were stuck.

The problem is More than the studs.

The machined hub that centers the wheel is NOT big enough to hold 2 aluminum wheels.

In order to run dual aluminum wheels safely on a dually pickup you need a spacer that bolts on with the inside wheel. It then had 8 new studs with a hub centric lip for the outer wheel
