Had sim thing happen to me down in Fl. My camper grew a baseball size tumor on one of the tires! Managed to get it changed and I just laid the tire back in the box to get replaced when I got to my destination! About 5 miles down the road heard on hell of boom that puckered up my shorts grabbed a hard hold on the wheel and checked my mirrors and got pulled off the the road All the tires were fine and then I noticed the the trailer tire with a big hole where the tumor was! That a blown intercooler pipes get yer attention !!

Glad I'm not the only one who this has happened to. I found a brand new plastic mayo jar oozing in my pantry yesterday...
I wonder what pressure my truck tires were at the top of that summit?

Lord it is smoky all over NorCal today. I had to turn on the lights on my truck today on 395...visibility got down to less than 1/2-mile.

Frank, the pressure inside your tire would not change to any significant amount. If you measured the pressure with a gauge it would read higher, but that is due to the reduced atmospheric pressure outside the tire at elevation. A tire pressure gauge reads the difference between the inside pressure and the outside pressure. The change in pressure would be roughly 1/2 lb psi per 1000 foot of elevation change.

Who would have thought a bag of chips taken from sea level to 8600 ft would explode???

$3 bag of chips gone, $320 tire still good
LOL The poor dog was like what the........ Well I am glad you made it to your new home and that the old 7.3 was good to you. So I am sure you have had a shot or two of that scotch by now. Don't forget to give the old truck a shot or two of grease in the ball joints for being such a good truck.
RIP poor old bag of chips!
