All that wire does is activate the annoying chime sound when you have the keys in the ignition. How it works is when you put the key in, the key causes that wire to become grounded which activated the chime module. One of the first things I do when I get a new truck is remove that wire from the the contact that it connects to, then tape it back in the harness. Unless you want the key chime to work, just cut that little contact off the end and insulate the end of the wire, then secure it neatly.
