speedometer malfunction

My speedometer is bouncing around and I'm shifting all wierd

The year of your van would help

If it a '92+ and your having shifting problems, the speed sensor in the rear axle is the problem, this will also effect your ABS brakes.

About a $22 part and easy enough to replace.

Its a 2000 the speedometer jumps around the speed I'm actually going

Replace the speed sensor, should solve your problem.

Agreed the Center Differential VSS could affect the speedo but that should potentially trigger the ABS MIL light too---right? Mine had accumulated too much debris and a simple cleaning cleared that MIL code.

The shifting issue could also be related to a failing or failed speedo portion of the whole cluster.
