Agreed the Center Differential VSS could affect the speedo but that should potentially trigger the ABS MIL light too---right? Mine had accumulated too much debris and a simple cleaning cleared that MIL code.
The shifting issue could also be related to a failing or failed speedo portion of the whole cluster.
