travis - placement of the temp probe makes sense. you want the temp coming back out of the engine before it gets to the radiator to be triggering the fans...
i don't tow super-heavy very often. heaviest i tow is my dad's old 30 foot sailboat, but that hardly ever comes out of the water, and i'm usually just pulling it to my house which is all back roads and relatively flat.
and the getting the shroud to cover properly shouldnt be too tough. i have a small break for thin sheet metal, or can work up whatever else i need at work.
