GPCM troubleshooting

Pretty sure my GPCM is bad, but thought I'd bounce symptoms off the 'hood...

SES light came on yesterday, with codes P0672, P0674, P0676 and PO678 - all four glow plugs on the driver's side. Cleared codes with Torque (I love that app!!!), they came back on the second key cycle. With KOEO this morning, I noticed the rear (green) plug to the GPCM was hot, the front (black) ones was stone cold.

Should I click "submit" on my order to Clay for a new GPCM?

Before you do that, check to see if the glow plugs on that side are getting power at all at the connector. 4 on one side can indicate a local failure rather than a GPCM

Thanks Trey. Are you thinking the UVCH could be loose? The truck had the $.05 mod done by a shop a few years ago. (The $.50 mod was too expensive, so the guy used zip ties. ) It seems odd that the thing would come loose in such a way that the outside pins, and only the outside pins, on each side of the connector were disconnected, and all at the same time. Or are you thinking something else?

BTW, I ran the AE glow plug test this morning, but all it told me was that I had 0672, 0674, 0676 and 0678.

I'm not familiar with the wiring specifically for the glow plugs. I'm just saying all 4 on one side is suspicious. Look elsewhere before buying the GPCM. Its probably the GPCM but how much would it suck to pay $150 and that not be the problem

Inspect the GPCM pigtails for melted plastic around the pins. Somewhere I saw replacement pigtails but my google-fu is failing me today.

The pigtails look good - pretty much new - and all four glow plugs on the passenger's test between .9 and 1.1ohms, when measured at the pigtail.

For those interested, and with credit to Woodnthings, here's the glow plug circuit:

Ordered a new GPCM from Clay a (very) few days ago, and installed it tonight. Problem solved, as far as I can tell after half a dozen key cycles and a test drive. No more SES light, no codes stored.

Thanks all!

Congratulations! It's always best to be sure you have the target centered in the Buck$Zooka scope before pulling the trigger. Nice BDA.
