One thing it seems to happen more when hot but it has done it at first start. Also i can try to start it and after maybe 2rotations it has a quick pause that noise then starts turninv over again and starts up
Now im second guessing myself, lol its so hard because i just went out and tried to get it to do it and the truck started every dag on time i tried maybe 30 times and couldnt get it to do it. I dont get it..im so confused
Let's not make any new problems! The starter is designed to run only a split second. They aren't rated for continuous duty put it that way. Same thing with the battery. One thing about electrical connections, there isn't much that looking at them can accomplish. Making sure they aren't loose, that's about it.They can get goofy long before any visible corrosion, though. Oftentimes just breaking them loose and retightening is enough to get you going again, but it pays to take the time to clean them free of paint, grease, etc, down to shiny bare metal.
Be careful working around batteries. Disconnect the negative battery terminal first, and then clean and tighten at the solenoid/starter, engine block, battery posts, etc. this is your plan until you can get a voltmeter on there and see what's what. A voltmeter is one of the most useful tools in the box and will tell you what's going on in seconds, and save you time and money, unless you want to pay somebody else to do it for you.
No the ac isnt on and yes it seems to happen more when its hot but had done it at different times. One thing though i have a coolant leak i believe is coming from the heater core. But is hard to tell because the constant dripping is coming from over the passenger side converter and i cannot locate where its originating from. Could that leak be leaking on top of the solenoid shorting it out?
Thanks tedster im going to put it up on my lift and take it all apaft and do as you suggested and clean everything and put the meter on it. Thanks for all the helpguys. Ill let you know what i come up with
water should not have anything to do with it other than rusting. it sound like a starter issue find a way to check your power at the starter. it is nice to see amperage when looking at starters but voltage will do. you can do a voltage drop on the starter
you got that right. don't know if you need it or not but if you need some help I can give you my phone number if you got it under control then that's good to but if you need it let me know.
