U Pull It has a 64 Galaxy and a 74 Ranchero with a 289 and a 351C respectively. I can pick the pair of engines up for $200. Both ran when the cars arrived last week.
My question is... would either of these make a suitable powerplant for a dentside?

If you already have a 351M or 400, the 351C. They are very close cousins.

Except a cleveland will bolt into a truck that had a smallblock but not where a 351m/400 was. I personally would not run either in a truck, the 289 makes no torque and the clevelands have little aftermarket support. Im a fan of the 351w since its performance potential is huge, second only to the small block chevy, and its a smallblock. You can build a 400+ cube windsor that makes a reliable 500 hp at home these days.
'64 Galaxie 289 is no go as it would be a 5 bolt bell.
351C, see previous posts.
With your money I would rebuild the engine that's in the truck or use a 360 to make a 390, 410 or 445.
I'd do a lot of other ^&& with your money too, so maybe you'd be on a bicycle before you got a motor, so I'm not going to suggest you send it to me....

So a definite no on the 289?
Keep in mind these are $100 engines. Does the 351C have any redeeming qualities?

I am rebuilding the 302. Picked up a pair of GT40 heads today for $51!
The 360s, one will be stock, the other will be built into a more beastly version of its former self.
The only reason I am thinking of the other motors is due to the dirt cheap costs.
