This is my first post, but don't really know if I am doing this correctly. I have a 2002 ranger xlt w/2.3 engine. I am going to take the instrument panel out to replace a bulb. My question is how do you take out the smaller bulbs on the cluster? Is there a gadget you need to get it out. The larger bulbs were easy because I just turned them. But the smaller ones are flat. Need help....
On the late models there are tiny bulbs for the indicator lights. The panel illumination lights are still the old standard 194 bulb. The small ones maybe leds soldered on the board.

Thanks for answering, but I need to change the light on the air bag. I have always had trouble withe air bag, since I purchased the truck. I have very short legs so I have been afraid of being so close to the wheel. Anyhow when I start the truck I have 5 intervals and each interval 5 beeps. But I don't show any light from the airbag and no light on the passengers side. So wouldn't that mean a burned out bulb?

You were so right. Was able to buy led light . Soldered in the bulb and wala, my air bag light does stay on anymore! Yay!
