I must have a light out in my instrument panel because the numbers from about 55 to 75 dont light up. how would i go about changing the burnt bulb and canyou change them to any other colors?
Kody,
You have to remove the entire bezel and cluster. It is not hard it just takes some time. I have a couple of pics that may help.
As far as the color I'm not sure but Pep Boys has bulb covers you can usually find in the tunner section.
Concur with Hallboy...it'll take a little patience to get all the trim out of the way just to get to the bulbs.
After all that work, I decided to change all my bulbs to red (194R's I think is what I put in). Looks pretty neat at night...am thinking of going with white face gaugeplate now.
Just so you're not disappointed after all the rigamarole....we changed out the six bulbs in side the instrument cluster assembly because there was a dark area on the top area of the speedometer. Even with the new ones, there's still a dark spot. At least we had the fun of tearing out the instrument assembly when we were in there for something else to begin with.
You can check out my gallery if you want. I have a couple of pics with the indiglow gauges. They look nice in day and night with green and blue colors.I am still working on my truck evey day. It's nice not having a payment so you can just play and learn.
Peace.
Hallboy
I just ordered some red LED bulbs that I plan to put in once I find the right White Face gauge plate for my 96 EB...supposedly brighter light output and more focused.
I'll eventually get to taking pics of my ride and creating my own gallery of the things I do (since I too have no payment to make and can play around).
if you do decide to take the gauge cluster out replace the bubls all at one, but make sure nothing is blocking the light from reaching those areas(loose wires, etc.) if it still is dead its probably a wiring problem, which sucks, so hopefully its not that.
