Got A Little Engine Clatter

Yeah, it hurts, but I figure in the long run, it's the best deal for me. I travel alot and if something goes south again, it's a Ford warranty, so I just go into a Ford dealer. I could have found a cheaper rebuild and had a shade tree do the work, but if it ever screwed up, I'd be out more plus the hassle. If the truck doesn't stay sound, I'll just trade it off for a new 6.2, but I really love the V-10, so not inclined to do that now.

Picked up my F-250 with the new engine. Definately more quiet and seems to have at least the same poop as it did before. All the wires must have been put back ok, seems everything is working. I will report later as I have a 300 mile trip to take today for a shake down.

WOW. sorry about the 6.8 death in the family, but IMHO, i would suggest the recommended motorcraft oil and filter, and after a good break-in period, substitute 1qt of Lucas full synthetic at every oil/filter change. I've gotton 203000 miles out of mine so far and still pull a 37' 11500+/- lb 5th wheel at sometimes high rpm. Good luck on the reman!

I would, after the break-in period. I have always used it, and my previous 88 f-250 with 7.3 IH, used 2qts (regular Lucus) with every oil change, it had 425000+ miles on it when i sold it! it was still running strong.....never heard a bad rap on Lucas products from anyone yet.

Actually, I have a Fumoto oil lever drain plug instead of a regular screw on drain plug, so I can dump a quart easy and then add the Lucas. I just hate to waste a quart of perfectly good oil.
