429 bent pushrod

i just got done with my 70 429, #3 cylinder bent the intake pushrod and 10 of the other pushrods are showing significant wear around the guide plates while the other 5 show little to no wear at all. i am running roller rockers. could it be they were not adjusted correctly or non hardened push rods?thanks

Sounds like a combination of both.

well after getting some comp cams hardened pushrods from summitt, i found that the number 3 intake lifter got pushed out of the hole. after messing around with a magnet for 6 hours yesterday this morning i decided it would be faster to just pull the intake. 4 hours later i got it all back together and now it is running excellent.

WORD OF ADVICE: always use hardened pushrods with roller rockers and if you are not sure buy a new set. it would have been worth the 120 bucks from the get go

You must run hardened pushrods with guideplates, regardless of your rocker arm type. The guideplate is what galls the pushrods.
