who's installed msd ignition on a stock internal 5.0? did it do any good, milage increase? power increacse? just tryin to plan the next wave of money spending on my truck and wonderin if you all think its worth it. i had msd's on my race car, but that motor was far from stock.
Keep it stock Ryan. The aftermarket ignition units don't do as well as the stocker under 5500 rpm, at 6000+ rpm they do better. Stockers are cheap and easy to get parts for and test. Your computer is made to work with the stocker also.
People that see mileage and performance increases from running aftermarket are smoking something and blowing smoke out "places". If there was an actual performance increase one of the replaced components was defective and should have been replaced anyway.
the only ignition for a truck i am looking into is a Davis Unified Ignition distributor. (www.performancedistributors.com). they are a self contained unit, one wire hookup, and if you need a new cap/rotor, you can just use a GM HEI.
