Hey guys, I have a 93 351 Windsor in an f-250. While driving at random times the gas likes to stop working and it will just bog the truck down. When i down shift and shift back up it goes back to normal though. I have noticed that it also like to idle high randomly as well. I was assuming that it might be a problem in the throttle control but I am still pretty new to this all. Any help or ideas?
I'm not sure what you mean by "gas likes to stop working" Does the engine just start to bog at some point? I had something similar happen shortly after changing a fuel filter. When I hit a bump, the engine would stumble. Sometimes the stumble would persist until I turned off the engine. Then it would run OK for a while, and repeat after another bump. I suspected the fuel filter, changed it again, and the problem went away. I should have cut it open to see what might be clogging things up inside.
Sorry, should have been clearer on that part. Say you were holding the gas pedal at half throttle or so for a continuous amount of time. Well, at some point the throttle just stops giving the truck no power whether you let off or hammer it. It doesn't even rev up the rpm's it is like the throttle cable was disconnected altogether. When i down shift and shift back to whatever gear (never letting off the clutch) it goes back to normal for a while. I am gonna change the fuel filter and see if that has any affect though.
