2000 ford van engine swap
Have a 2000 ford e350 5.4 v8. Engine is making tapping noise. Wanted to know can a newer year van engine be swapped in? Like 08+ . Have couple 2013s in the junkyards around me

The long blocks would probably interchange assuming your current heads are of the PI or "performance improved" variety.
Other than that you'll need to retain all wiring harnesses, intake, exhaust, sensors etc from the existing engine--they're all specific to your van year PCM's operation.
If the current heads aren't the PI type I'm not sure what happens then.
