Alright,I have a 64 f100 that originally came with a 292. It's needs a complete rebuild, which I don't have the money for, so I bought a carbuerted 302. I was told my trans that was originally in the truck would work. I think it's a toploader 3 speed, everything looks like it would hook up right and stuff, but I'm going to need to get engine mounts right? Because I don't see any way to make that engine bolt in the truck
Thanks
We've already been through this. The old transmission will not work. If you don't believe me, since you have the 302 and transmission try bolting them together and see why it will not work. The transmission also lacks a mount, which will be needed because the 302 will not have mounts on the bellhousing like the original. Yes, you need mounts and it is not simply going to bolt in.

With the 302 that was introduced in 1969 F100's, you will need aftermarket right and left engine supports, rubber insulators and a transmission cross member and rubber insulator, because the 1964 uses a completely different engine mounting set up.
The original 3 speed trans will not work, one reason why: Ford changed the case in 1965.
1965/66 F100/250 2WD, 1966 F100 4WD, 1967/79 F100/250: The 3 speeds extension housing has a flange on it for the rear engine mount that bolts to a removable bracket (aka cross member) that bolts to the frame rails.
The 1961/64 cross member is riveted to the frame rails, the 1961/64 bell housing has 2 "ears" on it for the right & left .. upper & lower rear engine rubber insulators.
What I'm saying is, it's there anyway to make that trans work? As in a place I can get another bellhousing for a 302 to hook up to that 3 speed?
There is always a way to make something work. Nothing I can think of will be particularly cost effective.
The first step is to get the trans and engine lined up as close as possible where they need to be in relation to one another. With that, you will be able to see what needs to be done. Maybe the bellhousing can be modified so the transmission mounts directly to it. Maybe an adapter or spacer can be machined. Maybe you can swap the input shaft. If you manage to mount that transmission to the engine, you still have the issue of mounting the rear of the engine which has to be resolved. Can you pull this off yourself or do you have to hire someone?
The most cost effective solution regarding the trans is to get a matching small block trans.
Then you need to add that to the list of things you need to acquire.
The 292 bellhousing will not simply bolt to the 302. Like the transmission, it is certainly possible to make it happen but it will cost more than to find the part that already bolts to the engine.
Do you see how this engine swap becomes so expensive? It's not as easy as it may seem.
