We have a 04 F250 crew cab xlt short bed 4X4 with 6.0 engine. When engine is off for a period of time and the ac switch was left on. The air comes out of defrosters for about a minute then switches to ac ducts. Another problem that happens when we stop for stop sign, the ac starts blowing warm air until we get back up to speed. I suspect a vacuum problem on first item, but where to start? Second item - low freon ?
I would have the ac pressures checked first and if good start looking for a minor vacum leak. If it wasn't a minor leak it would default to defrost at all times.

Ditto...check rubber vacuum connectors for small leak.
If A/C high and low pressures check good...check engine fan speed at idle.
Although not recommended....I have had vehicles with the same "warming" issues at a stop before, and adding a can of refrigerant fixed it.
Cheezit, no ice on system, just a lot of condensation on pipes but system did a lot of gurgling when truck shut off for a couple of minutes. Checked this after we got home from wedding
