2004 shift lock and cruise control problem
I have a 2004 f150 lariat crew cab 4X4 and am having some issues. The cruise will not turn on and if by chance it does it will only stay on for about 5 minutes. Secondly (maybe related?)when shifting from park to any gear I do not need to have the brake pedal depressed.The truck only has 50,000 miles on it now but I dont know where to start looking. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like your brake shift interlock is bad. Since you can shift from park to drive, your truck thinks your brake pedal is depressed. Since the truck thinks the brake pedal is depress, it will also cancel the cruise. A couple of other users had cruise issues as well. Search the forum to see if they posted what they found out, but I would start with the interlock or brake switch. It's under the dash mounted to arm of the brake pedal..
