Tailgate Question

alright so I bought a 1988 f-250 from a retired logger. the only problem was someone dropped a log on the tailgate on accident lol. so now heres my question. a local find it yourself wrecking yard said they have a lot of different f-250s in stock but no 1988 ones. could someone could tell me if other year tailgates will fit on my 88 and if so what years are they. thanks in advance!

87 to 96 will fit. Pretty sure 80-86 fits as well.

80-86 haven't a different latching system from what I have been told, especially 80-82 trucks.

Any 87-96 will go right on, 80-86 can be made to work but the pivot, latch and shape are different, not worth it most of all since those are worth more.
