Dash removal

These steps are optional. I didn't do any of them but it would give you more room to work:
-Remove both front seats.
-Remove the 4x4 shifter (if you have one on the floor).
-Remove the center console.
And these steps are how you remove the dash:
-Disconnect the battery, wait 15 minutes for SRS (airbag) backup power supply to discharge.
-Remove the access panel below the steering wheel. Couple screws at the bottom and some snap-in clips.
-Remove the cluster trim, disconnect the shift position indicator.
-Remove the covers from the steering column and disconnect the wiring from the turn signal switch.
-Disconnect all the remaining wires from the steering column.
-Disconnect the shifter cable near the pedals (it just pries off).
-Unbolt the steering shaft at the joint near the brake pedal, then unbolt and remove the steering column (4 nuts).
-Disconnect the electrical connector from the parking brake pedal assembly, then unbolt it. Just leave the brake cable connected and push the pedal assembly out of your way.
-Take out all the screws across the top of the dash, near the windshield.
-Unbolt the big-*** aluminum steering column support and have fun trying to make it come out from under the dash. Have a beer and/or your choice of tobacco product ready for this step. This is the hardest part, and not as bad as I might make it sound!
-Unbolt the cab electrical service bulkhead connectors (from the engine side of the firewall) and push the connectors thru into the cab. They just snap in/out of the firewall with locking tabs.
-Unbolt the support brace under the dash, near the transmission tunnel.
-Now there should just be a couple nuts (I think one or two per side) holding the dash to the firewall. Take those off.
-Pull the dash forward, reach behind it, and disconnect the HVAC blend door cable, vacuum harness, any remaining electrical harnesses, and the radio antenna cable.
-The dash should be free now. It's more of an awkward shape than it is heavy, so you can lift it yourself (or at least I can) but if you have a helper it would be easier to move around and carry.

So that should do it. I might have forgotten a few things but it's pretty straightforward and basic hand tools and skills are all you need. Took me maybe a couple hours and that was on a lazy (and HOT!) Saturday morning.
To put it together again, just do that in reverse. It's easier to get the steering column support in if you do it BEFORE putting some of the bolts in... you'll figure it out I'm sure.
