Is there a junction between this area and the actual transmission case that needs to have a gasket replaced?

There is the gasket in front of the t-case housing and the rear of the bottom pan.

The seal in the solenoid body can leak fluid into the connector. It takes a new solenoid body to fix this. Unless a lot of fluid gets in there it doesn't cause a problem.

Thanks for the image

So I guess the joint at the yellow is not something that is easily serviced/or does not need to be serviced in this situation.

Not easily fixed there. I think the overflow tube ends right about where that leak is also. I would give it a good cleaning there at a quarter car wash and then keep an eye on it.

Usually that tail housing just unbolts, and that's it. The other stuff stays inside the trans. Jack it up off the oil pan, take the trans mount loose, unbolt the tailhousing, and replace the gasket. No big deal.

So I guess I am wrong. I shouldn't have assumed anything.
