My 97 F350 truck lost forward drive yesterday when towing my toy-hauler. It was real hot yesterday about 105°F so that probably did not help out. I was towing doing a slow acceleration and around 35 mph when the tranny just let go. I have reverse only but you can here some spare parts moving around. I checked the tranny oil and it was still clean but it was super hot and the oil level was way above the full mark. I rechecked the oil today and its now just above the low mark.
So at this point I'm wondering what might of broke. Looking for some ideas on what it might be.
Well it depends on how much broke inside that transmission… $3K is awfully steep although I would imagine some folks have paid that much.
The last E4OD overhaul info I was privy to was about $1500.00 with a convertor installed. There's a local shop that advertises on a local CL ad that sez $1100.00 cash and carry.
