Looking to start by shopping around for a set of seats and I really like the front seats in later model trucks, the ones that have the jump seat in the center that acts like a console when you fold the back down.
What year range of SuperDuty seats will fit in the Excursion?
If I'm gonna have tan leather interior, I might as well go scare up some King Ranch seats. The leather looks more natural and tougher than the normal grey.
Cool. What about 2nd row. If I'm gonna have tan leather interior, I might as well go scare up some King Ranch seats. The leather looks more natural and tougher than the normal grey.
Personally I find the KR leather quite a bit tougher and less pliable. I'm not a fan myself.

I've got dogs and kids. I also tend to keep screwdrivers and various hardware in my pockets. Toughness counts...
But I really like the darker shade of it as well as the natural coloring of it. Much better than the plain tan.
I hear you, I haul car parts and a chocolate lab around in mine on routine basis and my interior takes a beating from time to time. I just can't justify the lack of comfort over the stock seats compared to the KR's. I'll stick to thrift store blankets for interior protection for now, hah.
Well, scrap that idea. Forgot that there is no 3rd row King Ranch. Anyone know if an Expedition 2nd row will fit? Also looking to gain LATCH fasteners for the kid seats. Weight class of Super Duties and Excursions exempt them from needing LATCH anchors.
LATCH system in and of itself has issues. They're meant to allow parents to install seats properly if they're having a hard time with the seatbelt method, that's it. They are not any safer than seatbelts for securing the kiddo seats. With the large variety of baby weights, car seat weights, and so on and so forth it's harder for them to standardize a uniform rating, design, and installation point.
Max weight for lower anchors is 65 lbs combined weight, child and seat together. Personally I threw a new middle belt and buckle in for peace of mind and use it plus the tether anchor on the rear of the seats. Same thing in the ex-wife's Accord and it has the LATCH system.

Thing is, my wife's Mazda MPV has LATCH.
Mother in law's Nissan Altima has LATCH.
Transferring seats back and forth is easy.
Need to take a seat put to clean under it? Easy.
The belt method just takes much longer to do what with routing the strap around under the seat and all. It's especially longer when switching from a LATCH and Non-LATCH equipped car because I've got to stash the LATCH fasteners in their spot on the seat.
I'd like a legit LATCH setup rather than installing screw eyes like I've seen a guy do in a 1960 Ford Fairlane.
I can see the ease and convenience afforded, absolutely. However given that even car manufacturers can't site an exact range for their own products, I prefer the time required with the belt for a greater piece of mind. There's several pictures online of LATCH anchors that've ripped out or broken from accident impacts that they terrified me.
I also use the middle belt in the X which is just a single strap, so it's pretty easy and straight forwards.
